To try and accommodate our students and hopefully lead to more students re-booking more private classes, we are going to change our private class policy.

Students are currently told they need to cancel private classes before 20.00 the night before the class is due to take place. This has resulted in students who cancel classes for genuine reasons after this time, losing these classes. Sometimes they don’t understand why this is, which can lead them to feel they are being treated unfairly.

In many cases, the academy has often made exceptions for students who cancel for genuine reasons, allowing them to re-schedule the class while paying the teacher for the class.

While we will continue to inform students of the 20.00 cancellation policy, internally we will allow students to cancel one class in every block they have booked within the 24 hour period. We will tell students we will make a one-off exception for them and they will not lose the class. In this case, as the academy has not been paid for the class, teachers will also not be paid.

If a teacher is inconvenienced by a late class cancellation (for example, a student cancels a 10am class at 9.30am, and the teacher is already in the academy), this class would not be cancelled and the teacher would be paid.

This should ensure that the student feels we are being helpful and understanding to them, and will hopefully mean they are more likely to book more classes with us.
