How to … understand Google Analytics overview

The Google Analytics data for Native English is held on the nevalencia15@gmail.com account. There are 3 views, as follows:

 

View name View description
1-Native English Master Current view, using filters that have been tested and which exclude traffic from staff as much as we can. It now also eliminates known bots and spiders.
2-Native English test view A test view. Any changes to filters and settings are done here for a week at least and the figures are checked to see that they are correct.
3-Native English unfiltered (old view) View as implemented by Google, allowing all traffic, including internal, and all bots and spiders.
  • To add a new filter (for IP address)
    • In admin, select 2-Native English test view.
    • In filters choose Add Filter
    • Select Create new filter
    • Enter details and save
      • Enter Filter name (e.g. Vinalopó 23-Jan-17)
      • Select Predefined
      • Choose Filter type of exclude
      • Choose Select source or destination of Traffic from the IP Addresses
      • Select the Expression – That are equal to
      • Save
    • After a week or so, check the results in this view. If they seem more correct than the 1-Native English Master, update the new filters to master
      • In admin, select 1-Native English Master
      • In filters choose Add Filter
      • Select Use existing filter
      • Choose the filter
      • Save
